Fort Worth TX/Sun Valley ID/Jackson TN –Cancer Care Centers of Jackson, Paris, Dyersburg, and Union City announce the launch of a CancerConnect community to provide online support for cancer patients and caregivers in west Tennessee through OMNI Health Media. This online cancer community is offered in addition to Cancer Care Center’s website, which provides patients and their families a comprehensive source of current cancer treatment information via, the premier cancer treatment information provider.

The CancerConnect community will be part of the national CancerConnect initiative. Research increasingly shows that cancer patients seek validation, information, and support via social media. Unlike other social media platforms, CancerConnect allows individuals to interact in a confidential, safe, and secure environment. As part of this program, members of the Cancer Care Center community can also participate in more than sixty disease-specific national communities for individuals with similar interests. Cancer-specific groups are available, as are groups focused on caregiving, health and wellness, clinical trials, insurance, nutrition, and survivorship, all of which provide valuable support and education. Together, these elements of the CancerConnect platform offer an online destination populated with rich content to support the many ongoing needs of individuals battling cancer.

Currently, more than 50,000 cancer patients are interacting with and supporting one another on the CancerConnect platform, which is now used by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Loyola University Medical Center, The Ohio State James Cancer Institute, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and other leading providers of cancer care.

Dr. Charles Weaver, founder and CEO of OMNI Health Media, stated that, “We are excited that Cancer Care Center has elected to use CancerConnect to support patients, families, and those interested in learning more about Cancer Care Center programs and services. This is an especially important support resource in an area where creating in-person support groups is a challenge due to a geographically dispersed population.”

“It’s helpful for our patients and their caregivers to have a place where they can connect with others who understand what they are going through,” says Sabrina Young, Director of Marketing for the Cancer Care Center. “We are excited to offer this important support resource to our patients in addition to our monthly support group meetings.”
