Each month “The Balancing Act Takes on Cancer—Hear Us Roar” series together with Women Magazine will take on different issues. Various experts will be joining The Balancing Act throughout the series to share their personal stories of how they were impacted by cancer—and what they’re doing to make a difference.

Part III of the series, “Understanding Colon Cancer” will air March 28, 2011 on Lifetime Television at 7:00-8 AM EST & PST (6:00-7AM CST) and will feature Dr. Allyson Ocean. Dr. Ocean will provide helpful background about colon cancer and will discuss advances in the treatment the disease. Dr. Ocean is Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and an Anne Moore M.D. Clinical Scholar in Hematology-Oncology at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. She graduated with honors from the Tufts University School of Medicine and completed residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and American Association for Cancer Research.
