OMNI Health Media Announces the Addition of Marie Barry to theRAConnection

TheRAconnection is pleased to announce the addition of Marie Barry as a new moderator of its growing community of individuals affected by rheumatoid arthritis (RA).  Marie was diagnosed with RA, systemic lupus, and Sjogrens syndrome 16 years ago.

As someone impacted by a diagnosis of RA and as a member of the advisory council at the Institute of Immunology, Transplantation and Infection at Stanford University Medical Center, Marie brings a unique perspective and depth of experience to her goal of helping fellow patients receive the very best information about how to live full and productive lives while managing chronic disease. Join the conversation with Marie and thousands of other individuals affected by RA here.

TheRAconnection is an online community and resource center for RA patients and their caregivers. The mission of TheRAconnection is to provide valuable education and support for the estimated 1.3 million adults in the United States living with RA. TheRAconnection provides comprehensive information about the diagnosis, treatment, and management of RA, a daily news service, featured articles, and a community network with which individuals can connect, trade experiences, and support one another.

Currently reaching approximately 90,000 individuals monthly, TheRAconnection programming supports individuals with RA over a lifetime. Some people may experience a single episode that resolves within a few months or years; others may experience fluctuating symptoms (periods of few symptoms followed by periods of worse symptoms or “flares”). Still others may have symptoms that get progressively worse. Although there is no cure for RA, early detection and effective treatment can substantially reduce pain and disability for many patients. TheRAConnection serves as an invaluable resource for individuals living with the disease.

The RAConnection also recently added David G. Borenstein, MD to its team in order to further expand educational and community programming to individuals with RA and those affected with conditions of the spine through a companion website,

Dr. Borenstein brings extensive experience and leadership to and is uniquely qualified to develop a new online community and resource for patients dealing with back and neck pain and conditions of the spine.  A past President of the American College of Rheumatology and a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University Spine Center, Dr. Borenstein has been active in a number of medical professional organizations.

The addition of Marie Barry and Dr. Borenstein to our team allows us to expand our programs and to support individuals with rheumatologic conditions and mechanical problems of the spine; this step is emblematic of our growing commitment to patients suffering from rheumatologic conditions.
