OMNI Health Media Launches Partnership with CreakyJoints to Help Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis
Ketchum/Sun Valley, Idaho December 5, 2012—OMNI Health Media (OMNI), a specialty publisher of health information, websites and applications specifically for consumers, is pleased to announce a partnership with CreakyJoints, aimed at better meeting the educational and support needs of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and their caregivers.
OMNI’s quarterly women’s health magazine, Women, which includes content dedicated to bone and joint health in each issue and is available in rheumatology offices and by subscription, will now regularly feature tips from CreakyJoints.org, one of the most robust arthritis communities for patients and caregivers. In addition, CreakyJoints will syndicate OMNI’s rheumatology news feed to its website and in the organization’s newsletters, which reach 55,000 individuals twice-monthly. OMNI publishes over 600 health news stories annually, which are currently available on leading hospital and advocacy group websites (including Susan G. Komen for the Cure), and via health portals like TheRAConnection and CancerConnect.
RA affects an estimated 1.3 million adults in the United States. The course of RA over a lifetime varies across individuals and is also influenced by treatment. Some people may experience a single episode that resolves within a few months or years; others may experience fluctuating symptoms (periods of few symptoms followed by periods of worse symptoms or “flares”), and still others may have symptoms that get progressively worse.
Although there is no cure for RA, the good news is that early detection and effective treatment can substantially reduce pain and disability for many patients. Important advances continue to be made in the management of RA—use of more effective drugs earlier in the course of RA reduces symptoms and joint damage, and allows some patients to achieve a remission (little or no active disease).
