TheRAConnection Announces the Addition of New Moderators to theRAConnection Communities

TheRAconnection is pleased to announce the addition of Ashley Boynes-Shuck as a moderator to the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) group on theRAConnection and Diane Talbert to the psoriatic arthritis group (PsA).  This addition to physician moderators David Borenstein “Dr. B” and C.H. Weaver creates a more robust community and experience for individuals with RA, PsA, Anklyosing Spondylitis, Osteoporosis and other types of arthritis and inflammatory conditons to share information and support each other through their journey.

Ashley Boynes-Shuck, also known as “Arthritis Ashley,” is the published author of 3 books entitled Sick Idiot, Chronically Positive, and To Exist. She is also a co-author of Empowered in Pittsburgh and a health news reporter for Healthline.com, in addition to being an award-winning blogger, advocate, health coach, social media influencer, and public speaker. She has worked closely with the Autoimmune Registry and the Arthritis Foundation, and is working on her fourth book. Ashley has even spoken in front of members of Congress on Capitol Hill about arthritis legislation, been quoted in Teen Vogue, been featured in Arthritis Today magazine and on the Today Show website, and been tweeted by Oprah Winfrey about her work!  Ashley has lived with rheumatoid arthritis since middle school, and also has several other chronic autoimmune and musculoskeletal/chronic pain conditions including celiac disease, osteoarthritis, dystonia, POTS, and Chiari malformation.

Diane Talbert is a blogger, patient advocate and speaker for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. She presently writes for The Mighty, Medium, Health Union and Patients Rising. She has been featured in Arthritis Today, Everyday Health, Arthritis Foundation, Black Doctor Org, New York Times, and Health Central. Diane has been an active advocate for psoriasis for over a decade now. She ran a support group in the Maryland, DC and Virginia area for ten years. Diane has had severe psoriasis since the age of 5. (1968) She was covered over 70% of her body for the first 40 years of her life. She has had psoriatic arthritis for 25 years, but just got a diagnosis 12 years ago. She is presently seeing a pain management doctor for fibromyalgia, a rheumatologist for psoriatic arthritis and a dermatologist for psoriasis. Her goal is to stop the stigma associated with this disease.

Dr. Borenstein brings extensive experience and leadership in the diagnosis, management and support of individuals with rheumatic and arthritic conditions of the spine. He is currently the editor of TheSpineCommunity –  a social network and resource for individuals with back. The AS group will now be accessible on theRAConnection in order to expand its reach and better serve patients, especially those with overlapping conditions. Dr Borenstein is a past President of the American College of Rheumatology, a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University Spine Center and recognized authority and author on back pain and spine conditions.
