Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance launch CancerConnect Communities

January 24, 2011 –  Sun Valley, ID  – OMNI Health Media announces two new CancerConnect communities – Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center -Nashville, TN, and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) -Seattle, WA.

These communities are part of the national CancerConnect.com initiative. As part of this program, members of the Vanderbilt and SCCA communities will also be invited to participate in over thirty (30) disease specific national communities for individuals with similar interests. Cancer-specific groups are available as well as groups focused on care giving, health and wellness, clinical trials, insurance, nutrition, and survivorship to provide support for anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer.  Together, the organizations offer an on-line destination populated with rich content to support the many ongoing needs of individuals battling the disease.

“People with cancer and their caregivers need ongoing access to support—not just during a brief office visit with their medical team, but when they go home and do research.,” explains Debra Friedman, MD, medical director of the Vanderbilt REACH for Survivorship Program.

“We are pleased to be able to offer this service to our community,” states Claire Beck-Keeler, SCCA Marketing Director.
